LinkedIn Boosted Content – What You Need to Know

For those of you who haven’t heard, you can now boost posts on LinkedIn! This means you can take existing posts from your LinkedIn page and put them in front of new eyes with paid boosting. Keep in mind that these posts will still pop up saying “Sponsored.”
The basics of boosting posts on LinkedIn
In order for you to boost posts on your LinkedIn timeline, you will have to have super admin or content admin access to the page.
The only kinds of posts that can be boosted as of right now are event posts or single-image posts. This limits you slightly, but you can still get creative!
All of your boosting settings will be accessed through the individual posts by clicking “boost.” Keep in mind that you can only boost posts once. If previously boosted, those posts cannot be boosted again.
How are boosted posts different from content ads?
A boosted post will resemble a content ad in many ways, but has some key differences. A content ad will allow you to put a button on the ad with a Call-To-Action, while boosted posts will not be able to utilize the same button feature.
However, you can still use links in captions, so we recommend your boosted posts have a link to your website, product, location or anything else that will help you make more sales!
Should you boost your LinkedIn posts?
As with any other type of paid promotion, there is always going to be trial and error. Willow wanted to investigate this further, and put the boosting potential to the test.
They ran a sponsored content ad and a boosted LinkedIn page post for two months, and the results were shocking!
The two posts were identical aside from the promotion method and the caption. One post featured a concise caption with limited information, and one was full of information and value.

At face value, it may not seem very exciting, but the boosted posts saw almost triple the number of viewers who actually clicked after seeing them.
In addition, there are assumptions we can make on why it outperformed, but will it continue to outperform or will the impact of paid LinkedIn ads and boosted posts eventually even out?
All we know right now is that you should be posting and boosting on LinkedIn! There is a clear opportunity.
