How To Grow Your Gym’s Community on Social Media
April 28, 2021
Building your gym or fitness studio’s member list can be a tricky task. Thankfully, social media marketing can help you along the way. From engaging existing members and attracting new ones to fostering your gym’s community, social media can help you strengthen your business for long-lasting success. Here’s how:
In-gym promotion
In-studio or in-gym promotion can help you build your social media following, connect with existing members and build your customer relationships. Write your social media handles on your gym’s mirrors, put flyers up on the front desk and train your instructors and staff to promote your social media handles to gym-goers when appropriate.
Share videos of your facility
Many new gym members may be hesitant to go to the gym and intimidated about walking through the door on their first day. Sharing a facility walk-through video that highlights all the different areas of your gym can help them ease their mind and let them know what to expect when they become a member.
Highlight your class offerings
If your gym offers group classes, like aerobics, spin classes, Zumba or boot camps, let your social followers know by highlighting them on your social profiles. You could take a short video of the class and share it on your profiles, along with a brief description that includes the class type, common equipment used and class length.
Share your favorite workout moves
Share your favorite workout moves with your followers, and provide step-by-step videos on how to complete them using proper form. These types of videos can help inspire gym-goers while showing your followers that your instructors and personal trainers know their stuff.
Instructor highlights
Feature your fitness studio or gym’s instructors on your social profiles to help foster relationships within your community. You can share a photo of the instructor along with a few quick facts, such as their favorite workout move, favorite song to workout to, where they’re from, their hobbies outside the gym, etc. Showing off your team can help your gym appear authentic.
Share inspiration
Share fitness-related news, healthy recipes, member highlights and more to inspire your followers. Inspired people are more likely to hit the gym or sign up for that extra spin class, so taking time to post engaging content can help you get more people through your doors.
Run a contest or giveaway
Social contests and giveaways are a great way to build your social media presence, gather user-generated content and attract new members.
For example, your cycle studio could run a contest to encourage members to share their post-spin class selfies for a chance to win a free month membership. When an existing member posts a photo and tags your studio on their social profiles, it allows you to reach their social media community, which builds your brand awareness.
