Helpful Social Media Content Writing Tips

Running a strong social media marketing campaign is vital to any business’s marketing strategy. However, coming up with ideas for content that is engaging, informative and culturally relevant can be difficult.
Don’t let writer’s block keep you from keeping your customer base informed and your social media feed up to date.
How to write content for social media
Knowing what you want to talk about and the goal of your content is important. Do you want to inform your potential customers about your product or service offerings? Do you want to expand on the story of the overall brand? Do you want to simply engage with your followers?
Once you decide what you want to feature, these different content types can help in any situation! Use emojis to punctuate important information, quotes and lyrics to connect with your audience or vagueness to make potential customers more interested in your product or service. Here is a list of useful social media content types if you’re feeling stuck:
Quote/lyric

Lots of different quotes work in lots of different situations and for different purposes. Quotes are a good way to connect to a younger audience and to incorporate a famous person’s name with your product or service.
GIF
GIFs are a newer and less frequently used form of content. I like using GIFs when trying to engage with the audience because it gives a visual, and is normally funny and super culturally relevant. A lot of the GIFs are memes and TV shows, or TikToks and Vines from internet culture. GIFs are perfect when used as reactions to things.
Fun fact

Fun facts are a cool way to spread more information about your product or service, and may actually convince people to make a purchase or schedule an appointment. Historical facts are also cool but don’t lend as much information or entice as much action as a fact that shows statistics about what happens if you DON’T have the particular product or service.
Puns/wordplay

Puns and wordplay are valuable assets to your social media strategy. One popular way of using puns and wordplay is to incorporate your company name (or highly featured product) in lots of different words. For example, if you are a pet store, there may be “pawsome” ways that you can incorporate “tail-waggingly” delightful phrases to make certain words stand out.
Lists

If you’re looking for content and want to feature your brand or a particular product or service, a list can be a quick and easy way to highlight key features without overloading your reader with too much information. Lists can also be made visually appealing by replacing the bullet points with emojis or other symbols. Lists are an effective way of sprucing up boring and repetitive information.
Fonts

Fonts can be used to bring the reader’s eye to important pieces of information. Fonts can be used as an initial attention-getter, or can be used to emphasize certain words or phrases. Fonts can be an interesting way to spice up the content when it is dry or needs some visual appeal.
Emojis

Emojis are an important tool of writing content because they can either emphasize something or take the place of a word. Emojis can make a feed look good and bring the reader’s eyes to keywords. If you’re getting stuck when writing content, spice up your sentences with some emojis!
Vague phrases

While this may sound funny, using vague phrases can add to your social media output, especially if the post is connected to an image. Using short and vague phrases adds intrigue, and by sparking curiosity, you’ll drive more people to your page to learn more.
Use these social media content types to help you write engaging and relevant content to build a bigger, more engaged audience!
