Setting Up Your Shop on Facebook

Instagram and Facebook storefronts are great tools for any product-driven business. You can have your customers order directly from your social media pages, reaching more shoppers in more places. But, how does a business set up one of these social media page shops? Let’s dive in!
About Shops
With Shops, you can create a customizable digital storefront across apps. Through your Shop, you can inspire and assist your customers in choosing the right products. There are multiple benefits to setting up a Shop, including simplicity, ease of use, speed and global scale compared to a website.
Shops create a unified presence across Facebook and Instagram, allowing you to customize your showcase, create collections and organize your products based on themes.
How to set up your Shops account
The first step is to make sure you have a Facebook business page, but if you don’t, you can easily create a profile and your Shop at the same time. This same step applies to Instagram.
To create your shop, go to this site: https://www.facebook.com/commerce_manager/onboarding_landing
From here, you are able to choose between three check-out methods, and choose which social platform you wish to sell on. If you wish to sell on both platforms, just repeat this process for both Facebook and Instagram.
Choose the catalog you wish to use for your shop, review your shop details, agree to the Seller Agreement and you’re finished!
Managing your Shop
You can promote all your products using a catalog. You can manage your catalog using Commerce Manager. You are able to add or delete any products and control which items appear on your page.
There is certain information (some required and some optional) you must provide when adding items to your catalog. Among them are its title, image, description, availability, brand, condition, price, product category, quantity and so forth.
Shops on Facebook or Instagram require slightly different requirements, depending on whether customers check out on your website or directly on our platforms.
Customizing your Shop
After you have finished all the logistical setup, you can now customize your shop!
Create a new collection via the Commerce Manager app. Name your collection and add all the items you would like to include. Match your collection to your brand’s theme by adding images, titles and text.
Shops will organize your products dynamically rather than in the order you added them. You can also select a collection to feature at the top of your page if you will be creating multiple collections.
With the Commerce Manager app, you can also customize the layout and style of your shop, personalizing it for your brand. This will help attract and retain your customers, as your shop will line up with your brand image. Once you’ve picked the layout and style of your shop, you can further customize the color of the buttons, arrange products and collections in the order you desire, and you can preview your page in both light and dark modes.
Shops automatically save any changes you make, so once you’re done you can just hit publish.
Build your brand, reach interested shoppers, get valuable insights, meet new shoppers in new ways, and show up in popular online shopping destinations, all with Facebook Shops!
