For most business website content, it is best to use the 2nd person (you, yours). For example:
Instead of:
We save our clients money with our fast service.
use:
You will save money with our fast service.
The second person is more engaging and conversational. This voice and overall tone does a better job of communicating to people than the more removed, third person voice.
It is also allows you to speak in the imperative. So the above sentence could be:
Save money with our fast service!
This sentences creates a call-to-action. It’s short and to the point.
While it may be tempting to write in a “professional” sounding business voice, you’ll actually engage readers better if you imagine you are sitting next to one person, having a friendly chat. Keep it short and informal and you’ll get your message across.
