Get it in writing! You don’t need to involve the lawyers, but you do need to draft an agreement so that all parties are clear about their responsibilities. Write a brief summary of the campaign and list the timeframe in which it will take place. Include a task list that determines who will do what and outline costs and how they will be divided and paid for. In addition, each party should write a simple statement that reflects their expectations of the campaign and their reason for being involved.
Measurement. Have a plan in place to track results and to share those results with partners. For example, if you are using an integrated payment system, assign a code to transactions related to the campaign. Another tactic to employ is email marketing. When each partner sends out email communications about the campaign, make sure you are able to track click-throughs on each link provided in the email and share that information with partners at an agreed-upon time.
Sharing data. As each partner collects customer data, have a central place where those contacts are shared. If you do share data, make sure your customers know that they are giving permission to be contacted by your partners. Or give them the option to opt out of offers from those partners. Make it clear that you are not selling their information to anyone.
